Platform Infrastructure Manager

Permanent Nr Newquay

The role will provide management, technical guidance and support to our internal IT teams, academic, research staff and offshore shared infrastructure service provision for compute, storage and backup.

The infrastructure is based around HPE technologies (3Par, Storeonce, Blade enclosures, DL servers) and supported via a managed services contract directly with HPE. The backup infrastructure utilises Veeam as the main software component.

The manager will be responsible for a team of engineers within Infrastructure team, based in both London and Cornwall, and oversee their development, training and career progression.

Main responsibilities include but not limited to:

1. Set Technology standards for key technology areas (Server, Storage and Backup infrastructure) and deliver those solutions and products to the university's IT users
2. Manage capacity and currency of the university's infrastructure
3. Reduce the overall spend on the university's IT environment
4. Increase overall SLA performance

Travel will be required, (predominately between the Quintrell Downs office, College campuses in London and data centres based in Slough and Leeds).
